Every single day it seems like there’s some new ad telling you how to lose all your weight giving you surefire ways to burn all your tummy fat and get the body of your dreams.  Now the End of the year means many things, it brings up all sorts of thoughts, emotions and crazy behaviour, one thing the end of the year brings though, is a review of the years many trends/fads and a verdict on what needs to stay in 2016 to never leave and follow us into 2017. Here they are:

  1. Slimming Tea

To be honest we never thought this was ever going to take off and actually become a real thing. You know those strange chinese teas your weird auntie always had like forty packs of, with at least 39 of them expired. These teas to be honest don’t ever actually work, please brethren please just leave the slimming tea in the garbage.

2. Juicing

The juicing fever was strong in 2016, no fruit or vegetable was safe from the fit fam squad and their juicers. Kale, broccoli, algae, turnips, beetroots, any and every thing was all up to be sentenced to death by juicer. This one also didn’t/doesn’t work, most people juice and drink all sorts of plant concoctions, but none of them will ever be food. A smoothie will NEVER be a burger, NEVER because where is the protein?! Neither does drinking plant juice give you any nutrients or nourishment you actually need. Juicing does  help you lose weight, but eventually, you will need to start eating people food and then gain all that weight you thought you lost right back.

3. Waist Trainers

Waist trainers were all the rage in 2016 though they have been around for so much longer, everyone wants that Jessica Rabbit silhouette and these were the easiest and fastest way to get it. It transformed bodies and turned 1’s to 10’s and legit changed the Instagram game forever. Celebrities like the Kardashians jumped on the bandwagon and began to endorse certain waist trainer brands, truth is though, you’re probably better off just going to the damn gym than squeezing your middle into this too tight thing that gives you way too much headache for its “benefits”.

4. The Master Cleanse

You know the drill with this popular one, lemonade, cayenne pepper and maple syrup are mixed with fresh water to create what is probably the grossest concoction ever ingested by man on the face of the earth. We’re not really sure why everyone is so obsessed with mixing all sorts of stuff to drink but it looks like this one really stuck. Again, the weight loss only lasts as long as you’re on the cleanse which means when you stop, you’ll end up losing all your progress and in some cases becoming even fatter than you ever were.

You’re way better off using the good old traditional ‘eat healthy and exercise’. It may seem outdated with all the quick fixes everyone seems to be offering but truth be told, it’s really the only way to keep the weight off after you lose it.
